Summary of Role
Our client is seeking a Product Development Engineer. This role involves working in the Cramlington-based design studio and factory, where our client crafts high-quality, bespoke furniture using traditional methods.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Work within a small Product Development Team at our Cramlington manufacturing site.
  • Manage NPI of bespoke projects, product customization, range extensions, and standard product improvements.
  • Oversee projects from initial enquiry to production, including costing, design, prototyping, and production documentation.
  • Exceed customer expectations through the creation of well-designed, elegant products.
  • Provide timely service to internal teams, including Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance product market appeal, profitability, and quality.
  • Attend meetings, visit client premises, and conduct site surveys as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified engineer, designer, or draughtsperson.
  • Experience in design and development within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Strong numeracy, IT skills, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Clean, full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Degree in Design/Engineering (e.g., Furniture/Product).
  • Experience designing bespoke products using timber and/or fabrics.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating manufacturing drawings and work instructions.
  • Experience in creating 3D visuals.
  • CNC Programming experience.
  • Experience in costing, quotations, and site surveys.
