Central Employment is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Marine Engineer to join our Client team. The ideal candidate will have a robust electrical engineering background, explicitly focusing on marine systems. The role involves overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels. 

Summary 

A senior electrical marine engineer must be a highly skilled and experienced professional who oversees and manages electrical systems on marine vessels. This role involves designing, installing, and maintaining electrical equipment and troubleshooting and repairing any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and excellent communication and leadership skills to work effectively with a team. This is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of marine vessels. 

  Duties 

  • Designed and developed electrical systems for marine vessels, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and effective integration of electrical systems into overall vessel design.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on existing electrical systems.
  • Manage projects and supervise junior engineers and technicians.
  • Stay current on advancements in marine electrical technology and incorporate them into design and development processes.
  • Undertake electrical, electronic and control system overhauls and repair onboard customers’ vessels and in our workshop.
  •  Carry out surveys, installation and commissioning activities, troubleshooting and diagnostics

  • Basic Network communications and diagnostics, IP-based systems
  • Instrumentation communication, E.g.: RS232, RS485, Modbus, CAN bus, Ethernet
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Marine and Offshore industry experience
  • HSE knowledge
  • Willingness to travel as required to fulfil the duties of this position
  • Excellent communication skills

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical engineering, focusing on marine systems.
  • Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards.
  • Hands-on experience with marine vessel electrical systems and equipment.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
