Central Employment is currently collaborating with an exceptional legal firm in Newcastle Upon Tyne to hire a Legal Secretary for their Real Estate department. I am seeking a candidate with extensive experience in Real Estate and ideally, other areas of law within a law firm setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing files
- Transcribing audio dictation using Diktamen software
- Handling search applications
- Drafting and formatting documents, especially in Microsoft Word, and preparing engrossments in PDF format
- Utilizing Docusign for electronic signatures
- Filling out various forms and applications
- Drafting land registry applications and SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax) returns
- Managing post-completion registration and Stamp Duty Land Tax processes
- Photocopying and scanning documents
- Screening calls and emails
- Managing billing tasks
- Scheduling appointments and meetings for the real estate team
- Providing secretarial support for other departments in the firm during their busy periods
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrate proficiency in Windows-based office software, with advanced skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Liberate, an integrated accounts and document management software, or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Potential experience with case management software in the future is a plus.
- Exceptional word-processing abilities, including expertise in track changes feature.
- Quick adaptability to new IT software and efficient utilization of existing systems.
- Solid educational background, including proficiency in English language. Typing speeds of approximately 60 words per minute for both audio and copy tasks.
- Knowledge of Land Registry Direct, along with familiarity in SDLT and property searches, would be advantageous.
- Previous legal experience in property sector, particularly in formatting and amending documents and leases, is preferred.
