Training Director Steve Hart completes Mount Toubkal Trek for Newcastle United Foundation

Central are delighted to announce that our training Director, Steve Hart, has successfully completed a challenging trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal in North Africa. This remarkable achievement was undertaken in support of the Newcastle United Foundation, raising vital funds and awareness for their disability programmes.

Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa, standing at an impressive 4,167 metres above sea level. Located in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, it is a popular destination for adventuress trekkers from around the world. The journey to the summit is physically demanding, involving steep ascents, rugged terrain, and often unpredictable weather conditions. The trek is a true test of endurance, determination and teamwork.

Steve’s trek was motivated by a desire to make a difference in our local community. The Newcastle United Foundation is an independent charity that harnesses the power of football to inspire, motivate, and support people across the North-East. Their disability programmes provide life-changing opportunities for individuals with disabilities, helping them to build confidence, develop new skills, and access inclusive sporting activities.

By taking on the challenge of Mount Toubkal, Steve has helped to shine a light on the incredible work of the Foundation and the positive impact they have on people’s lives. The funds raised through this initiative will directly support the Foundation’s disability programmes, enabling them to reach even more individuals and families in need.

Steve’s journey to the summit was not without its challenges. Over several days, he and his team navigated rocky paths, endured high altitudes, and pushed through moments of fatigue. However, their determination and teamwork saw them reach the summit, where they were rewarded with breathtaking views and a profound sense of accomplishment.

Reflecting on his experience, Steve said: “Climbing Mount Toubkal was an unforgettable experience – physically demanding, but incredibly rewarding. Knowing that every step was helping to raise funds for such a worthy cause made it even more meaningful. I’m incredible proud of what we’ve achieved as a team, raising nearly £50K for the Foundation. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.”

As a business, Central extends our heartfelt congratulations to Steve and the entire team for their outstanding achievement. Their dedication and perseverance are inspiration to us all.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated to this cause. Your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of individuals supported by the Newcastle United Foundation’s disability programmes.
