Electrician

Step into a busy commercial fit-out project in Gateshead where your electrical expertise will keep the schedule on track and the site running safely. This is a hands-on temporary role through to the end of October, ideal for an experienced electrician who is confident working on full installations, wiring, and lighting within a commercial environment.

About the Role:
You will be working as an onsite Electrician on a commercial fit out, taking responsibility for installation, wiring, containment and trunking, and lighting systems. Operating between 08:00 and 18:00, you will support the project team to deliver high-quality, compliant electrical works to tight deadlines, ensuring all installations meet current standards and site requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out electrical installation works on a commercial fit out, including first and second fix.
• Install and terminate wiring, ensuring neat, accurate and safe connections throughout the project.
• Fit and secure containment systems such as trunking, conduit, and cable trays to specification.
• Install, test and commission commercial lighting systems and associated controls.
• Work safely at height using IPAF, installing electrical components and containment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and plans to complete tasks correctly and on time.
• Conduct basic testing and checks to confirm safe operation of installed circuits and equipment.
• Liaise with site management and other trades to coordinate work and maintain progress on the programme.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working as an Electrician on commercial fit out projects.
• Strong practical skills in electrical installation, wiring, containment, trunking, and lighting.
• Ability to work independently and maintain output over full-day shifts (08:00–18:00).
• Competent in reading and following electrical schematics and site drawings.
• Solid understanding of current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work to deadlines through to the end of October.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience on fast-paced refurbishment or shop-fit environments.
• Familiarity with coordinating with multiple contractors on busy construction sites.
• Previous work on large-scale commercial lighting installations.

Qualifications:

• ECS Gold Card (Approved Electrician) – required.
• IPAF certification for use of MEWPs – required.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent – preferred.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) – preferred.
