We're supporting a growing specialist HV engineering business as they expand into 132kV commissioning and Contract Operations & Maintenance (COMA) services. This is a key hire for the business and an opportunity to play a leading role in delivering commissioning, switching and protection services on high-profile projects across the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading HV commissioning and switching activities up to and including 132kV
• Protection relay testing, configuration and settings implementation
• Developing and carrying out switching schedules
• Site commissioning, testing and energisation activities
• Issuing safety documentation including Permits to Work and Sanctions for Test
• Carrying out fault finding, functional testing and proving systems prior to handover
• Supporting growing COMA operations and participating in an on-call rota
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with current HV regulations

Essential Requirements

Non-Negotiable

• Current SAP Authorisation under a recognised HV safety rules framework (DNO, TO or Private Network)
• Proven switching and commissioning experience up to and including 132kV
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Able and willing to travel UK-wide and stay away during the week

Protection Engineering Experience

You should have proven experience with:

• Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider and/or Reyrolle protection systems
• Relay configuration and settings implementation
• Differential protection
• Distance / zone protection
• Busbar protection
• Protection grading and discrimination studies

Testing Experience

Strong hands-on experience using:

• Omicron CPC 100
• Omicron Test Universe
• Omicron CMC Series
• Omicron CT Analyzer (or equivalent)
• TESTRANO 600 (or similar transformer testing equipment)

Including:

• Primary and secondary injection testing
• CT & VT testing and analysis
• Transformer testing
• Relay testing and commissioning

Switching & Commissioning

You'll have demonstrable experience in:

• AC & DC control wiring interpretation and testing
• Isolation, earthing and proving dead procedures
• Writing and executing switching schedules
• End-to-end site commissioning through to energisation
• Leading HV site activities independently
