Painter and Decorator

Two experienced Painter and Decorators are needed for a commercial pub fit-out project in Cardiff, starting ASAP. This is a hands-on temporary role where you’ll play a key part in delivering a high-quality finish to a fast-paced refurbishment.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for completing all internal painting and decorating work on a commercial pub fit-out, ensuring a professional and consistent finish throughout. Working closely with site management and other trades, you’ll help deliver the project on time and to specification. Your work will directly impact the overall look and feel of the venue once it opens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out interior painting of walls, ceilings and skirting boards to a high standard.
• Undertake exterior painting tasks as required by the project scope.
• Prepare all surfaces, including filling, sanding and priming, prior to painting.
• Apply appropriate paints, varnishes and finishes in line with project specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area, protecting surfaces and fixtures from damage.
• Work efficiently within set working hours (06:00–14:30, Monday to Friday) to meet project deadlines.
• Liaise with site supervisors and follow all site instructions and project plans.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements on a busy commercial site.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator on commercial or similar projects.
• Strong skills in interior painting, including detailed work on skirting boards and ceilings.
• Ability to work to a consistent, high-quality finish with attention to detail.
• Capability to work to schedules and manage workload independently.
• Own brushes, rollers and standard decorating tools, along with suitable whites/workwear.
• Reliability and punctuality to meet the project’s timeframes.
• Understanding of basic health and safety practices on construction sites.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working on pub, bar or hospitality fit-out projects.
• Familiarity with different paint types and finishes used in commercial environments.
• Ability to work effectively alongside multiple trades on site.
• Experience with minor remedial and touch-up work towards project completion.

Qualifications:

• Valid CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification (preferred).
