An established residential developer operating across the North East is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced QS ready to take the next step or an established Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge with a successful housebuilder delivering a range of residential developments throughout the region.
The Role
You will be responsible for the commercial and financial management of multiple residential developments, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and efficiently whilst maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you'll play a key role in cost control, procurement, reporting and forecasting across live housing developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the commercial performance of multiple residential developments.
- Preparing and maintaining project budgets and cost plans.
- Producing regular valuations, cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Procuring and appointing subcontractors through effective negotiation.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and payments.
- Monitoring costs and identifying opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Working closely with construction, technical, sales and finance teams.
- Providing commercial support to site teams and senior management.
- Supporting business decisions through accurate reporting and analysis.
- Mentoring and developing junior commercial team members where appropriate.
Requirements
- HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline.
- Previous experience within the UK residential housing sector.
- Strong understanding of cost control, procurement and subcontract management.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
