A leading UK distributor within the industrial and electrical products sector is seeking an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join its London operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual looking to take the next step in their management career, supporting branch operations while driving sales growth and customer satisfaction.

The Role

Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot, leading the sales team, supporting business development activities, and ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained.

You will play a key role in the ongoing success of the branch, helping to drive performance, develop customer relationships, and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Branch Manager with the day-to-day management of the depot.
  • Take responsibility for branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Monitor and support the operational performance of the branch.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the branch team to achieve business objectives.
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Support negotiations and supplier agreements at branch level.
  • Handle customer enquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Work closely with the sales team to maximise customer satisfaction and account growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Support the achievement of branch sales and profitability targets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, performance, and service delivery.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within a sales, operations, branch management, or distribution environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Previous experience leading, motivating, or supervising a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally for meetings and training.
