The Opportunity
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced HV Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to support the safe operation, commissioning, maintenance, and management of High Voltage electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of power, utilities, renewable energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work on critical electrical assets and lead HV operations within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an HV AP or SAP in accordance with company safety rules and industry regulations.
- Carry out and oversee HV switching, isolations, energisation, and operational activities.
- Prepare, review, and issue permits, switching schedules, and safety documentation.
- Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to at all times.
- Support commissioning, maintenance, testing, and fault-finding activities.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Liaise with clients, DNOs, ICPs, National Grid, and project teams.
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety reviews.
- Review RAMS and operational procedures.
- Support project delivery from planning through to commissioning and handover.
Requirements
Essential
- Current or previous HV Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status.
- Proven experience operating and managing HV electrical networks.
- Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
- Experience carrying out HV switching and isolation activities.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Desirable
- Experience working on systems from 11kV to 132kV+.
- Background within utilities, renewable energy, power generation, industrial, data centre, or transmission & distribution projects.
- Commissioning experience.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- National Grid, DNO, or ICP project experience.
