Finance Manager

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to take ownership of financial reporting, controls, compliance, and business partnering activities within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare and post financial journals including fixed assets, VAT, royalties and other key accounting entries.
• Review accruals, prepayments, payroll and other balance sheet journals.
• Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and provide insightful financial analysis.
• Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with accounting standards
• Maintain and update standard costing models, including labour, overhead and material costs.
• Analyse manufacturing variances and provide commentary to support business performance.
• Monitor inventory controls and stock valuation processes.
• Support stock provisioning reviews and inventory reporting.

VAT & Tax Compliance

• Prepare VAT calculations, reconciliations and submissions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
• Support quarterly and annual tax reporting activities.
• Liaise with external advisors on tax-related matters.

Financial Planning & Business Support

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitor capital expenditure and investment projects.
• Assist with royalty calculations and reporting where applicable.
• Partner with department managers to provide financial insight and decision-making support.
• Act as a key finance contact for the wider business.

Audit & Governance

• Coordinate external audit requirements and maintain relationships with auditors.
• Ensure strong internal controls and governance frameworks are maintained.
• Review and improve financial processes where appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role.
• Strong background within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based environment.
• Good understanding of stock accounting, inventory management and standard costing principles.
• Experience producing management accounts and delivering month-end reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across operational and finance teams.
• Knowledge of VAT and financial compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines.
