Location: County Durham
Salary: £27,000-£29,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Working Arrangement: Day Shift Monday to Friday

A long-established and award-winning food manufacturing business is seeking a Transport Planner to join its Logistics team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and dependable logistics professional to play a key role in ensuring the smooth coordination of transport operations across the UK and international markets.

Working within a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport schedules, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently and on time. The role requires close collaboration with internal departments, customers, suppliers, hauliers and freight partners to maintain high levels of service and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily transport schedules to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure finished goods are prepared in line with loading schedules.
  • Raise orders and sales orders using internal systems and Sage 200.
  • Work closely with freight forwarders to arrange shipping and haulage activities.
  • Prepare and complete transport and shipping documentation accurately and within required timescales.
  • Oversee the loading and dispatch of customer orders.
  • Resolve logistics and customer service issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain exceptional levels of customer and supplier service.
  • Ensure operational processes comply with company standards and requirements.
  • Develop professional knowledge and contribute positively to team objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Transport Planner or Logistics Planning role.
  • Good knowledge of HGV road transport regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with transport management and logistics systems.
  • Knowledge of Webfleet software (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and effectively manage workload priorities.
  • Confidence working with customers, suppliers and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with business systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service.
  • A collaborative and team-focused attitude.
