Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: North East / Yorkshire (regional projects)
Salary: Competitive + package
A well-established construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a key position responsible for the successful commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will oversee the financial and contractual performance of projects while supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the commercial aspects of projects from tender to final account
- Preparing cost plans, budgets and forecasts
- Advising on procurement strategy and managing subcontractor procurement
- Preparing and reviewing subcontract documentation, including bills of quantities
- Reviewing contract conditions and negotiating with clients and subcontractors
- Preparing tender costings and supporting bid submissions
- Carrying out cost value reconciliations (CVR) and reporting
- Managing variations, valuations and final accounts
- Identifying and mitigating commercial risks
- Reviewing and approving subcontractor payments
- Providing commercial support and guidance to site teams
- Supporting the preparation of contractual claims where required

- Contribute to improving processes and overall business performance
- Maintain high professional standards and client service delivery
- Identify issues and propose practical solutions
- Promote collaboration across project teams and the wider business
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within construction
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Proactive, organised and detail-focused approach
