A well-established manufacturing business in North Shields is seeking a motivated and reliable Production Operative to join its growing team. The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out manufacturing and assembly tasks to agreed quality and production standards.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to the development of new procedures where required.
  • Operate, monitor, and clean production machinery, assembly equipment, and hand-held tools.
  • Conduct quality checks and basic testing throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Escalate production issues and collaborate with relevant teams to identify solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, defects identified, and scrapped materials.
  • Ensure production targets and customer requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards, keeping work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
  • Store and handle raw materials and finished goods safely within the factory environment.
  • Operate lifting equipment and forklift trucks where trained and authorised.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Report faulty machinery, equipment issues, or production concerns to supervisors promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A-C / 4-9 in Maths and English.
  • Additional qualification in a technical subject would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake further vocational and on-the-job training as required.
