About the Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive Scheduler to join our manufacturing team in Peterlee. This role plays a key part in ensuring production runs efficiently by creating and managing schedules that align materials, labour, and machine capacity with customer demand and delivery deadlines.
Working closely with production, purchasing, warehouse teams, and customers, you will help drive operational efficiency, maintain compliance standards, and support on-time project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update production schedules to ensure customer requirements and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Plan and coordinate manufacturing activities for fire door projects, ensuring resources are effectively utilised.
  • Review project specifications and ensure all requirements are accurately reflected within production plans.
  • Liaise with production, purchasing, warehouse, and customer teams to ensure materials, capacity, and labour requirements are available as scheduled.
  • Monitor production progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions to minimise disruption.
  • Adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, material shortages, machine downtime, quality concerns, or customer requirements.
  • Produce and distribute daily and weekly production schedules, work lists, and progress reports.
  • Support compliance with the Q-Mark Scheme, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate planning records and documentation for reporting, auditing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all scheduling activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and quality standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Previous experience in a production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing coordination role.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for production planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing data and schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both shop-floor and office-based teams.
  • A flexible and proactive approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A good understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements within production operations.
Desirable Experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working within a fire door manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of the Q-Mark Scheme and its scheduling and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience coordinating customer-focused manufacturing projects.
