Electrical Maintenance Shift Supervisor
Location: Redcar
Salary: £48,987.12 per annum (£22.43 per hour + 2% shift allowance)
Working Pattern: 4 x 12-hour day shifts followed by 4 days off (07:00 – 19:00)
Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Shift Supervisor to join a high-performing engineering team within a large-scale industrial operation. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for driving plant reliability, maintaining operational uptime, and ensuring engineering standards are upheld across site.
The position plays a key role in leading day-to-day maintenance activity, supporting both reactive and planned engineering work, and fostering a proactive, safety-first engineering culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all engineering and maintenance activities across the site
- Drive plant performance through effective planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Lead engineering response during breakdowns, ensuring efficient fault diagnosis and resolution
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed safely and in line with compliance standards
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term engineering and continuous improvement solutions
- Monitor engineering performance and promote best practice across the operation
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers for specialist repairs and maintenance
- Support maintenance planning, permit systems, and scheduling activities
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and environmental compliance
- Provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to engineers and operational staff
Candidate Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering (electrical bias preferred)
- Proven experience in a supervisory or lead engineering role within an industrial or production environment
- Strong background maintaining production machinery and equipment
- Experience with fault finding on PLCs, VSDs, and relay logic circuits
- Good understanding of PPM systems and maintenance strategies
- Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills
- Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
