About the Role:
You will be responsible for picking, packing, and moving food products within a chilled and frozen warehouse environment during night shifts. Working as part of a small, close-knit team, you will ensure all orders are prepared accurately, safely, and on schedule. Your contribution will help maintain high service levels and uphold strict food safety and health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately from chilled and frozen storage locations using pick lists or handheld devices.
- Load, unload, and move stock using pallet trucks or forklifts in line with site procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform manual handling tasks, including lifting, stacking, and palletising products, while following safe working practices.

Maintain correct product rotation and stock organisation within the cold store to support efficient order flow.

Use of computer systems, booking goods in and out.
- Conduct basic checks on products and packaging for quality, damage, and correct labelling before dispatch.
- Follow all site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for working in cold storage, including appropriate use of PPE and adherence to temperature controls.
- Keep work areas clean, tidy, and free from hazards, supporting general warehouse housekeeping standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to report issues, update on progress, and ensure smooth shift handovers.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment, ideally within food or cold storage operations.
- Confident with manual handling and lifting tasks, with the physical capability to work on your feet throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions and pick orders accurately.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to read pick lists, labels, and complete simple records.
- Solid understanding of health and safety practices in a warehouse environment, including safe use of equipment and PPE.
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and maintain productivity on night shifts.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the set night shift pattern of 23:00 to 08:00.
- Comfortable working in chilled and frozen conditions for extended periods, following all cold storage SOPs.
- Team-focused approach with clear communication skills and a positive attitude toward collaborative working.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in a food warehouse or cold chain logistics environment.
- Previous use of handheld scanners or warehouse management systems.
- Valid forklift truck licence (counterbalance or reach) or experience operating powered pallet trucks.
- Experience in order picking to high-volume targets within a time-critical environment.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or demonstrable equivalent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Formal manual handling training or certification (preferred but not essential).
- Health and safety or food safety training/certification (preferred, or willingness to undertake training).
- Valid forklift or pallet truck certification (advantageous for candidates operating MHE).

- 23:00pm to 08:00am
- Sunday to Thursday
The Pay:
- 12.71 per hour
