MIG Welder
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Pay Rate: £12.96 – £14.72 per hour + shift allowance
Shifts: Rotating Days & Backs (with occasional nights)
Central Employment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established company within the steel manufacturing sector, for an experienced MIG Welder to join their production team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder looking for long-term, stable work within a structured and progressive engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out MIG welding on steel components to a high standard
- Complete multi-run fillet welds in line with engineering specifications
- Work on circular welds and structural components
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings where required
- Ensure all welds meet quality and safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with health & safety guidelines
Experience & Skills Required:
- MIG welding experience is essential even if basic level
- Must be able to complete multi-runs of 8mm – 12mm fillet welds
- Experience welding 1000mm diameter circles and 8mm – 12mm fillets
- Experience within a steel, fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment is desirable
- Ability to work to a high level of accuracy and consistency
- Knowledge of engineering drawings is beneficial
A weld test will be required at interview stage to demonstrate ability.
Shift Pattern:
- Rotating shifts:
- Days: 6:00am – 2:15pm (Monday to Thursday), 6:00am – 12:45pm (Friday)
- Backs: 2:15pm – 10:30pm (Monday to Thursday), 12:45pm – 7:00pm (Friday)
Full flexibility around shift patterns is essential. Night shifts may be required on an as-and-when-needed basis to support business demands.
Rates, Overtime & Benefits:
- £12.96 – £14.72 per hour (depending on experience)
- Back Shift: 15% uplift on basic hourly rate
- Night Shift: 25% uplift on basic hourly rate
Overtime Rates:
- Monday to Friday:
- First additional hour worked each day: basic hourly rate
- Thereafter: x1.5
- Saturday:
- x1.5 for all hours worked
- Sunday:
