Machine Operative

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, Europe's longest established independent supplier of printed carton packaging, for a Machine Operative for their Cut and Crease on a temporary to permanent basis.

Overview of the Role

Working in a busy, fast-paced environment, using your own initiative to ensure each job is completed to the highest of standards. To assist in the manufacture of printed carton packaging using a large industrial cut and crease machine.

Responsibilities

  • Make ready and run the machines, following instructions given on the works orders regarding speeds and special instructions.
  • Prepare all relevant material components to operate the machine throughout the shift.
  • Maintain optimum speeds for the machine while at the same time ensuring customer quality standards are met.
  • Be responsible for both product and mechanical fault finding while operating.
  • Carry out quality checks at pre-determined intervals throughout the running of the job.
  • Segregation of work using manual, dexterous processes.
  • Ensure machines are kept clean and tidy and that maintenance programs are followed and documented.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with quality and health & safety standards.
  • Communicate, practice and promote the values, ethics and culture of our client.
  • Any other duties that can be reasonably expected of the role.

What we are looking for
We would accept someone who has a lot of machine operation experience

  • Experience running BOBST or similar cut & crease machines desirable
  • Experience in folding carton production or similar desirable
  • Experience with decorative embossing, single-level, multi-level, sculpted - desirable
  • Experience with additional decorative processes such as foiling desirable.
  • High levels of energy to keep pace with ongoing production demand.
  • Willingness to undertake overtime when required.
  • Mechanical aptitude to maintain machines & address breakdowns.
  • An interest in the printing and packaging industry.
  • A genuine willingness to assist in all areas necessary.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Good IT, written & verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in new technologies
  • A positive attitude toward meeting challenges & a strong work ethic
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability

The hours of work and pay

This role is paid at £13.44 to start with a view to increase once permanent 

The hours of work for this role run on a continental shift pattern working a total of 36 hours per week.

The ideal candidate must be able to work both day and night shifts of 12 hours.
