Mechanical Estimator Newcastle
Permanent | £50,000 salary + Car Allowance
Central Employment is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Estimator for a permanent opportunity based in the Newcastle area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and commercially competitive tenders, ensuring projects are properly assessed, costed and positioned to deliver profitable work.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse tender documents, drawings and contract terms
- Undertake mechanical quantity take-offs
- Prepare Bills of Quantities
- Build up labour, plant and material rates
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Liaise with internal and external design teams
- Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates
- Identify value engineering and commercial opportunities
- Assess project risks throughout the tender process
- Coordinate tender documentation and final submissions
- Work with key stakeholders throughout the bidding process
- Present tenders internally prior to submission
Essential Experience
- Mechanical background within the construction industry
- Previous estimating or tendering experience
- Experience analysing technical drawings and specifications
- Strong commercial awareness
- Experience obtaining quotations and managing variations
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively to tight tender deadlines
