Position Title: Primary Line Operative

Central Employment are currently hiring for a Primary Line Operative for one of our clients based in Middlesbrough. Established in 1979, Central Employment is the oldest independent recruiter in the North East.

Main Purpose of Job:

To assist the shift team leader in the efficient operation of the Sicut Production Line, ensuring daily output targets are met and maintaining company standards. Responsibilities also include ensuring a steady supply of raw materials to meet production and shipping requirements.


Key Areas of Activity and Responsibility:

  • Assist the shift team leader in setting up and operating the production line.
  • Operate the Sicut Production Line under the direction of the Shift Team Leader.
  • Conduct pre-start safety checks and document findings in the company database.
  • Start, stop, operate, and reset production equipment within the designated area.
  • Support the inspection process by using basic measuring equipment to check work quality.
  • Perform quality inspections, identify defects, and ensure adherence to quality procedures.
  • Maintain smooth and efficient machine operation.
  • Report equipment failures or issues to the Team Leader.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to meeting daily/weekly production goals.
  • Handle housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Report equipment faults, safety hazards, or accidents to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used and inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with the Shift Team Leader to maintain efficiency and resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and repairs as directed.
  • Cover breaks and holidays as required.
  • Be flexible to work overtime, weekends, and attend meetings outside normal hours.
  • Assist with risk assessments and SOPs as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • A level/GCSE/NVQ qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Extrusion experience would be advantageous.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Forklift license preferred; training can be provided.
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery and measuring equipment.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Willingness to stay updated on Quality, Safety, and Environmental practices through regular training.


This role works on a rotation of 12 hour day and night shifts, however the ideal candidate will be flexible across all working hours.


This role is currently paid at £12.95ph, paid weekly.
