Hours: Continental Shift Pattern (12-hour shifts, 6 AM – 6 PM and 6 PM – 6 AM, rotating days and nights)

About the Company: Central Employment is currently recruiting for a Secondary Print Assistant on behalf of a prominent client in the packaging industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates seeking hands-on experience in printing with a view to developing skills within a high-quality production environment.

Job Purpose:
The Secondary Print Assistant will play a key role in supporting the print team with the day-to-day operations of the printing machines. The position involves assisting with setup, monitoring, and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth and efficient production. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to gain experience and build a career in the print industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor ink ducts and varnish levels to ensure uninterrupted machine operation.
  • Assist in preparing the machine for the next job, including any necessary adjustments for make-ready.
  • Perform secondary quality and compliance checks to ensure products meet client specifications.
  • Support the team with routine machine maintenance tasks, helping to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Train toward operating the machine independently for short-term cover (e.g., during breaks and holiday periods).
  • Work closely with the print team to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workspace.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring all tasks are completed safely and responsibly.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a print or packaging environment is required.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop within the print industry, with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to conduct quality checks.
  • Strong teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the willingness to assist with machine maintenance.
  • Flexibility to work a continental shift pattern (12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights).
