Central Employment is thrilled to present an opportunity as a Microbiologist in the Quality Control department of our pharmaceutical client, you will play a critical role in ensuring the microbiological quality of raw materials, finished products, and purified water systems at our Cramlington facility. Your work will support the company’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality products to our customers, while meeting both regulatory and company standards. Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct microbiological testing on raw materials and finished products, including liquids, wafers, and tablets.
- Accurately document all QC activities, ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory standards.
- Perform microbiological testing on purified water samples from the site to ensure water quality meets regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality control testing on all media and reagents utilized in microbiological assessments, ensuring accuracy and reliability in testing.
- Manage inventory levels for media, reagents, and essential equipment in the microbiology lab to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Oversee equipment calibration and maintenance, scheduling activities as needed to ensure all instruments function optimally and are compliant.
- Report all test results promptly in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Engage in project work relevant to microbiological activities, contributing to site-specific improvements and innovations.
- Organise and schedule testing activities to meet service and performance metrics, ensuring timely completion and high standards of quality.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), job instructions, and other documentation to promote consistency and compliance across the microbiology team.
- Assist with laboratory deviation investigations, contributing to root cause analysis and the development of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Actively support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related science field; OR equivalent technical experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
- Skills:
- Proficient in microbiological testing and quality control processes.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities with a forward-thinking, solution-focused approach.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in all documentation and reporting tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
