Central Employment is delighted to present this Senior IT Manager opportunity on behalf of one of the region’s leading professional services firms, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Due to both significant investment and growth, they now seek to appoint a Senior IT Manager to take responsibility for overhauling the organisation’s IT systems and practices to meet forecasted growth targets.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to modernize the entire IT infrastructure, improve cloud technologies and build a robust, fit-for-purpose IT estate, capable of meeting the security requirements of modern IT.

It is essential that you have hands-on delivery experience in cloud technologies, the preference would be demonstrable experience delivering on-prem to Azure transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the management, installation, maintenance, availability, and security of the network & infrastructure
  • Full budget control ensuring all investments are costed and leveraged against the business’ needs with a focus on ROI
  • Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of an innovative ICT strategy
  • Develop a robust asset management structure, ensuring all licensing and components are logged and recorded
  • Provide insight into market trends, analysis, and requirements of a modern IT estate
  • Develop an Audio-Visual documentation strategy training all users in the effective use of the technologies
  • Build an effective Disaster Recovery strategy fit for the needs of a modern business, with a focus on business continuity and data loss prevention.
  • Design and implement a change management strategy to reduce downtime and improve business continuity
  • Develop a watertight cyber security best practice policy, ensuring a strong external multi-layered security perimeter fit for modern business requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • 10 years’ technical experience of IT Infrastructure (networks, firewalls, servers etc.) in a medium business or larger environment.
  • 5 years’ experience planning, developing, and implementing an infrastructure strategy
  • 5 years’ experience in project management delivering IT projects preferably within cloud technologies
  • Experience growing an IT team, ensuring the correct technical resources are available to support the day-to-day needs
  • Must be a hands-on manager, not merely a strategist

Desirable Requirements

  • Prince2 or other recognized project management qualification
  • Information systems based degree
  • MCSE Azure Solutions architect

Technical Requirements

  • Modern Microsoft technologies understanding, implementation and configuration from Endpoint, Azure PaaS, Defender, Azure AD, Intune
  • Telephony – previous experience designing, managing, and implementing a telephony refresh
  • Switches, Wi-Fi, access points and other on-premises infrastructure
  • MDM – sourcing a solution fit for purpose
  • In-depth knowledge of the usage and application of PowerShell or other command line tools

The Person

  • The ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written skills
  • Demonstrable experience developing, coaching, and improving a technical team
  • Experience dealing with external stakeholders to assess, coordinate and deliver new solutions.

Hybrid working will be possible for this opportunity, however, you must be able to commute to site on a regular basis. The initial six months will require an on-site presence building relationships and roadmaps of the IT estate improvements.
