Central Employment are delighted to be working with a leading professional services firm based in Newcastle who are looking to start a team to control an in-house IT function. The first hire of a few the IT Manager will ideally be from a professional services background, will have experience of strategising/forecasting and will have successfully developed an in-house team in the past. Currently, my client relies on a Managed Service Provider, as my client has grown there is now a need to bring this solution in-house. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of an innovative ICT strategy to support business growth that will stand the test of time.
  • Develop and implement policies & procedures for asset disposal, ICT software & hardware upgrades in a highly regulated environment
  • Research and analysis of competitors to ensure the IT function matches other professional service organisations of a similar headcount
  • Develop & control of infrastructure
  • Development & control of DR processes and a robust security boundary
  • Establish the budgetary requirements arranging the sourcing of resources, manage income and expenditure control
  • Presenting improvements to the board in a non-technical manner that can be understood by a layperson
  • Maintaining full inventory of ICT assets and consumables including a robust timescale replacement system
  • Ensure training on the use of hardware and software is given to key members of the organisation
  • GDPR considerations in addition to Data Protection Act

Essential Requirements 

  • Experience leading & implementing a team of IT personnel
  • up-to-date knowledge of market changes in hardware/software
  • Experience of budget control & forecasting
  • Experience presenting ideas to C-level staff
  • Good understanding of networking, infrastructure and security software
  • 5+ years experience in a management capacity within IT
  • Degree educated in IT related or higher qualifications MCSE

Desirable Requirements 

  • Experience from a professional services law firm would be ideal

The vision for this role is to hire a team to support the IT function, a senior technical analyst and 1st line engineer will be staged into the team
