Central Employment is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our client’s dynamic payroll team based in Darlington. As a Payroll Professional, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive payroll services, including auto-enrolment, to our client’s diverse client base across the Northeast. Our team, consisting of 8 skilled professionals, processes approximately 4000 payslips per month for 250 clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct manual calculations of SSP, SMP, SPP, and reconcile them with payroll software; complete necessary forms for DWP as required.
  • Verify client-provided information and raise queries when necessary.
  • Generate and analyze various reports from the payroll system for managerial review.
  • Compile report packs and organize them in Virtual Cabinet for publishing.
  • Maintain an up-to-date work schedule.
  • Finalize payroll processing upon client confirmation; distribute remaining reports and online payslips.
  • Handle banking tasks and facilitate BACS submission for payroll.
  • Upload pension details to relevant pension providers within specified deadlines.
  • Manage the daily payroll data inbox; log incoming payroll changes and collaborate with clients to resolve queries and address requests.
  • Prepare year-end reports and distribute P60s.
  • Ensure all payroll activities comply with legislative and statutory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous high-volume payroll experience within a payroll bureau.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact confidently with clients and colleagues in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to demonstrate initiative.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Team player with the capacity to work independently.
