Central Employment are looking for an experienced Electro Mechanical Engineer to work in a busy food manufacturer based in North Shields . Due to recent growth, the company are looking to recruit permanently. Previous experience within an FMCG environment is desirable but not essential as some training will be given.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently maintaining all production and warehouse machinery in good working order
  • Keeping the machines and fittings in a clean and hygienic state, ensuring that you and your colleagues follow hygiene instructions and good housekeeping practices
  • Ensuring all appropriate servicing maintenance and breakdown information (including contract servicing) is recorded accurately on the maintenance database
  • Servicing production machinery, attending breakdowns escalating as necessary
  • Maintain the factory, warehouse and office buildings
  • Switching all machines in the factory on prior to production and switching them off after production or when required by the Shift Leader
  • Open up the factory when applicable, locking up and setting alarms as required
  • Observing health and environmental safety regulations
  • Recommending and looking for changes necessary to improve the operation of the department.  Looking for improvements to increase performance of the production machinery
  • Ordering spares in the absence of the Site Engineer
  • Supervising sub contractors in the absence or as instructed by the Site Engineer
  • Assisting production staff in any way possible to ensure efficient and continuous output
  • Behaving in a polite, acceptable and responsible manner
  • Training of new staff as required
  • Any other duties assigned by the Site Engineer, and Shift Plant manager

Job Specifications:

  • Ideally have experience working C51, IMA case packers, Bradman Lake Cartoner, Bradman Lake & Fuji flow-wrappers, Ilapak, Jacob White, Marden Edwards over-wrapper, check-weighers, metal detectors
  • Electrical qualification would be advantageous
  • Self motivated with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to cope in a busy environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be proactive and take the initiative
