Central Employment Support Smart Works Charity

Central Employment’s Kasia Durma and Lucy Kennedy were supporting Newcastle based Charity, Smart Works, in setting up their Sustainable Fashion Sale at Newcastle University Student Union Building.

Smart Works is a Newcastle charity who support women in gaining employment by providing them with an outfit, including clothes and accesories,  and 1-2-1 interview coaching performed by experienced volunteers.

Kasia Durma commented “As a Recruiter, this Charity is very close to my heart as getting back into work after years of unemployment, whether it is due to raising a family or just unfortunate life events, is a real struggle for some of our female candidates who come to our office”.

Today’s  job market is very competitive and sometimes first impression and candidate’s confidence are deciding factors when it comes to making them an offer of employment – whether we agree with the decision or not. Charities like Smart Works are doing an amazing job at giving women a real confidence boost and very useful tips on how to perform well at an interview. Only in the first year, their volunteers helped 290 in the North East!

Giving back to the local community has always been important part of life at Central Employment and we try to organise regular charity events to make sure we don’t forget about those who depend on our  support.

Only recently we had a very successful Macmillan’s Coffee Morning (lots of cake!!) and we are slowly approaching our next exciting Charity Day which will require a little bit more effort from everyone than eating cake all day! 😉
